Element notational contains the information related to the Notational layer. This layer describes and links the graphical representations of the score.
Representations can be grouped in two types: notational and graphical. A notational instance is a binary
format, such as NIFF or ENIGMA, where the information that generates the score layout is described in
digital format. A graphical instance is given by an image representing the score, such as a JPEG image or a PDF file. Note that a notational instance (e.g., an ENIGMA file produced by music publishing software)
usually produces a graphic instance (e.g., a TIFF file).
